Jeff Bezos announced the new Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.  A 7” android-based tablet for only $199.  I placed an order right away.

Watching Bezos reminded me of a bit of Steve Jobs.  Focused on user experience and simplicity.  Jobs had user empathy… and Bezos has it too.  It’s what drives extraordinary design and products.

The tablet market is getting crowded… the iPad is the king of the premium tablets.  Amazon’s new Kindle Fire places it at the top of the budget tablets.  It makes me wonder what will all the other manufacturers do.

I’m also thinking Amazon must be thinking about making a smartphone.  The profit margins for phones are very high, and Amazon has all the content in place.  It’s a single sign-in process.  It’s what Google’s trying to do, Apple, and now Amazon.
